Abacus Enterprises Inc. Efforts Against COVID-19

Abacus has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic, with the safety and well-being of our Employees, Customers and Vendors as our top priority.

At this time, we do not anticipate any interruption to operations or services provided by Abacus Enterprises Inc.  Abacus is fortunate to work in a fairly isolated industry and will ensure that all Employees maintain a social distance.

All equipment will be properly sanitized when it returns to the shop, and employees are instructed to wipe down their equipment daily.  Abacus has made proper cleaning supplies available to employees.

As of March 16th, Abacus has closed the office and shop to all public traffic and will conduct all client/vendor relations via an electronic means.  We ask that anyone who must visit the office or shop, complete a self-assessment and call prior to arrival to arrange meeting.    All shop deliveries are to be scheduled with our Shop Forman (Wayne St.Laurent, 780-238-1028) to maintain social distancing.

We have implemented internal controls for any staff that show signs of respiratory illness to isolate themselves from others as quickly as possible, and Do Not Come into the office/shop or worksite and stay home.

Before attending a worksite, employees are asked to please preform the following preventative measures:

  • Temperature Self-Check, please reference the guide below.  If employee temperature measures equal to or higher than the guideline temperatures, employees must not go to work site, must follow isolation requirements and contact their supervisor via telephone to notify them

  • Preform symptom self-assessment via the Alberta Health Services website.  Employee must adhere to recommendations set forth by the Government of Alberta Health Link.

While attending the worksite or office/shop, please be reminded to take the following precautions:

  • Notify your supervisor via phone and Leave work if you develop any symptoms while on-site

  • Shield coughs and sneezes with tissues or use bend elbow technique

  • Avoid touching your face

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

  • Avoid handshakes and maintain physical distancing (2m or 6ft)

  • If physical distancing of 2m (6ft) cannot be maintained the use of proper PPE, such as masks, gloves, face shield and coveralls should be utilized.  Please ensure proper disposal and cleaning of all PPE is followed.

  • Limit or eliminate the transfer of personal items such as documents, hand held tools, pens, etc. between personnel

When on a work site, please do not make jokes or attempts to begin rumors about being infected or others being infected with COVID-19.  These are very serious matters that are impacting Global health and Economic times; we will not tolerate any sarcastic behavior in regards to COVID-19.  If you truly suspect you may have been exposed or infected, take the necessary precautions; Leave the Work site, Go Home and Be Tested (call Health Link at 8-1-1).

As per Alberta health guidelines, if you have recently returned from travel outside of Canada, Do not come onto an Abacus site, or into the office/shop, until you have completed the 14 days self-isolation and show no symptoms.  If you have been in contact with someone who has travelled abroad and is in self-isolation, Do not come to an Abacus site or workplace.

Should you have any concerns with Operations or the Health and Safety of Abacus Employees, please contact our HSE Representative, Kyle Stewart at 780-238-1017 or via email at k.stewart@abacusent.ca.
